Tebay Anglers

Eligibility for Membership, Permits and Associated Fees.

The fishing season on the Tebay Anglers' stretch of the River Lune runs from 1st April to 31st October.  The specific dates when trout and salmon may be caught within this period are detailed in the Bye-Laws, along with other restrictions on legal lure types and amount that can be taken.  Annual membership subscriptions and permit renewals are due by 1st April each year and payment (cheques payable to: "Tebay Anglers") sent to The Treasurer, Tebay Anglers, 7 Highfield, Tebay, Penrith, Cumbria, CA10 3TJ.  At present there are no facilities for payment by credit/debit card.  If a permit renewal is not received by 1st May, that permit will have lapsed and space will be allocated to those on the waiting list on a first-come-first-served basis.


Membership, with voting rights, of Tebay Anglers is restricted to persons on the electoral role in the Parishes of Tebay, Orton or Newbiggin-on-Lune and wholly resident in this area. Persons aged 65+ are only eligible for Retired Member status after at least 5 years as a full member. The current membership fees are:

Limited seasonal permits to fish the Club's waters are available to non-members on application and subject to the approval of the Club's Committee.  Permits not renewed by 1st May each year shall lapse.  A waiting list operates for persons wishing permits; contact Harold Riley (Tel: 01671 401173). The current fees for Season Permits are:

Day and 2-Day Permits are now availableAlong with weekly permits, they are available from:

  • Tebay PO  (Monday, Wednesday or Friday) 
  • Bessy Beck Trout Fishery (Wednesday to Sunday)
  • The Old School, Tebay (Except Tuesday)
  • Orton PO

 Day, 2-Day (consecutive days) and Weekly permits are only available 1st April and 30th September each year and can only be obtained in person as proof of possession of a Trout/Salmon Fishing Licence is required.   Permits and catch returns must be returned to source at the end of the period.  As fish rental areas are subject to change, please fish only between Tebay Anglers signs.  Fees for short-term permits are:

Adult - One Day    £20.00
Adult - 2 Day £30.00
